Travelling With A Pet: 3 Tips To Consider When Calling A Taxi Service

Blog

Most Americans own a pet, and there's an estimated 70 to 80 million dogs and 74 to 96 million cats in the U.S. Pet owners are often hesitant to travel far around the city with their pet if they don't own a car; however, there are actually plenty of taxi drivers that can accommodate these needs. If you haven't called a taxi for you and your pet before, take a look at the following 3 tips for a more enjoyable experience.

Let the Taxi Company Know Ahead of Time

While almost all taxi drivers will do their best to accommodate your pet, not all drivers might be comfortable with your pet. To prevent the taxi driver from stressing out, let the taxi service know ahead of time that you will be traveling with a pet, so that they can dispatch a driver that feels comfortable with pets. It's also a good idea to provide some information on the type of pet that you own, as some drivers may have preferences. For example, while some people are comfortable with small dogs, they might still feel anxious around larger dogs.

Bring a Towel for Your Pet

If there's a chance that your pet might shed all over the carseat or scratch up the leather, bring a towel with you. Use the towel to cover up wherever your pet will be seated. The towel will catch any fur that is shed, and will also protect the leather seats from getting scratched up. It's also there just in case your pet makes any other messes, like if they get motion sickness and vomit. The towel reduces the amount of mess that your pet may make, so that you won't have to worry about any hefty cleaning bills coming your way.

Ask the Driver If They Have a Preference for Where Your Pet Sits

Before you let your pet into the taxi, ask the driver whether if they have any preferences in terms of where your pet sits or if they have any other preferences for your pet. For example, some taxi drivers might prefer if your pet sits on the floor and others might prefer if you don't open the window for your pet to stick their head out.

Getting around the city with your pet does not have to be difficult. There are plenty of taxi drivers that can accommodate your requests and can cater to your pet.

Learning About Various Types Of Transportation

Hello, my name is Denver and this blog was created due to my fascination with various types of transportation. It all started when I was a child and I received my first train set for my birthday. As I got older, I also became interested in the big semi trucks that I would see on the highways while traveling with my family. It didn't stop there, I then became mesmerized by airplanes and helicopters. The subway system and monorails were next on my list of interests. I would constantly read books and try to find out additional information about all the different kinds of transportation. Because of this early obsession of mine, I am very knowledgeable about this subject. If you would like to learn about the various modes of transportation, I invite you to read my blog and to enjoy the information that I've gathered together.
